"First Rose of Spring” Yincense

Ingredients: in-house preservations of fresh, fruity, northern, Rose petals, Orange rinds, and wild Meadowsweet flowers.  Terebinth resin for fresh green notes, a fruity dark Frankincense, Grade A Mysore Sandalwood to dance with Rose, because together, they create exceptional feelings of well-being.

 

The first rose of spring is always a moment of pleasure.  I can see it from a distance, in the wide expanse, of my forty-foot-long rose hedge.  The air is still redolent with the fresh, dewy aroma of spring greenery which dominates the scent-scape.  The bright, green fragrances of Spring combine with the single Rose to create a cool, airy, and floral scent.  In a week or two, the air will turn hot and heavy.  The hedge will be red with Roses.  The air around the rose hedge will become thick with the scent of Roses that I can smell from a great distance.  The fresh, green scents of spring give way to the summer scents of languid flowers, rich compost, and sunbaked greenery.  Some summer days, the ambient temperature in the forest clearings will become so hot and humid that all I can do is lay down under the shade of a tree, with a cool, citrus drink, a mister bottle and remember the fresh scents of spring.   

 

Yincense-What is it?

Yincense is pure botanical incense made with unusual and ancient methods for preserving the fragrance of fresh from the garden flowers and botanicals.  These methods use salt, fermentation, enzymes as well as the enfleurage of precious resins and woods. They produce the most realistic and broad scent experience of the living plant spirits as possible.  Yincense weaves a tapestry of scent, like silken threads on the breeze. Many Yincense blends are an intimate incense that requires you to stay present if you want to be in conversation; helping to tame a racing mind.

Yincense is made to be used on the low setting of an electric incense heater or on a mica plate over a cool charcoal buried in ash.
